Hi followers. I spoke with Wendy Friday evening. Here’s a quick update:
They had an uneventful day at Union Glacier yesterday preparing to leave. She said that the plan is to leave on Saturday and cover 8-10 nautical miles per day. The team is hoping to time their arrival at the South Pole with the original discovery team 100 years ago – January 17th. They be skiing and pulling all their food, clothing and gear on sleds behind them (no dogs in Antarctica!). She sounded very happy and upbeat. The terrain around Union Glacier is stunningly beautiful and the weather has been pleasant so far. This is a great expedition team and it sounds like they are having a great time together.
More to come,
Trish
